Perfectionism
Perfectionism might look like high standards from the outside, but from the inside it often feels like never being good enough. If you’re constantly striving, criticising yourself, or struggling to rest because there’s always more you could be doing, that’s exhausting, and you don’t have to live like that.
You don’t have to live like that
The hidden cost of perfectionism
Perfectionism isn’t just about being thorough or detail-oriented. It’s often driven by a deep fear of failure, of judgement, of not being worthy of love or respect unless you’re performing at your best. It can lead to procrastination, burnout, anxiety, and a relentless inner critic that never lets you rest.
You might find it impossible to celebrate your achievements because you’re already focused on the next thing. Or you might avoid doing things altogether, because if you can’t do them perfectly, what’s the point?
How therapy can help
In our sessions, you don’t need to get it right. There’s no performance here, just a space where you can be honest about how tiring it is to hold yourself to impossible standards.
We can explore where your perfectionism comes from, what it’s trying to protect you from, and what it might be costing you. Over time, many people find they can loosen the grip of perfectionism without losing the things that matter to them.
