Phobias
A phobia can feel embarrassing to talk about, especially when other people don’t seem to understand why it affects you so much. But phobias are real, they’re powerful, and they can genuinely limit your life. You don’t need to feel silly for wanting help with this.

Living with a phobia
Phobias go far beyond ordinary dislike or nervousness. They can trigger intense physical reactions, including a racing heart, difficulty breathing, nausea, or a feeling of sheer panic. Over time, you might find yourself going to great lengths to avoid the thing you’re afraid of, which can shrink your world in ways other people don’t always see.
You might avoid certain places, situations, or activities. You might feel embarrassed about the level of fear you experience, or frustrated that you can’t just get over it.
How therapy can help
In our sessions, we can gently explore what’s behind your phobia. When it started, what it means to you, and how it connects to your wider experience. I won’t push you to confront anything you’re not ready for.
Person-centred therapy works by creating a space where you feel safe enough to explore difficult feelings. Over time, understanding yourself more deeply can shift the hold that fear has over you.
