Postnatal Depression
Becoming a parent is supposed to be one of the happiest times of your life, so when it doesn’t feel that way, it can be incredibly confusing and lonely. If you’re struggling with your mental health after having a baby, please know that this is more common than you think, it’s not your fault, and it doesn’t make you a bad parent.
It’s not your fault, and it doesn’t make you a bad parent
What postnatal depression can look like
Postnatal depression goes beyond the ‘baby blues.’ It can involve persistent low mood, overwhelming anxiety, difficulty bonding with your baby, feeling like you’re not good enough, irritability, exhaustion that goes beyond normal tiredness, or frightening intrusive thoughts.
You might feel guilty for not enjoying parenthood the way you expected to. You might be putting on a brave face while falling apart inside. These feelings don’t mean there’s something wrong with you. They mean you need support.
How therapy can help
Online therapy means you can access support from home, which can make all the difference when you have a baby. In our sessions, you can talk honestly about how you’re feeling, without fear of judgement or anyone questioning your ability as a parent.
We’ll explore what you’re going through together, at your pace. Whether you’re dealing with difficult feelings, struggling with the transition to parenthood, or just need someone to listen, I’m here.
